Business Planning Analyst - Pharmaceutical Industry

Overview:

A global specialty pharmaceutical business, who due to successfully achieving significant and sustained growth, have created this new role of Business Planning Analyst. Working within the Business Intelligence team - focusing on a specialist division - you will be coordinating and driving business planning processes, assessing profitability and driving account planning and strategy, as well as developing processes to increase productivity and help manage costs and productivity.

This is a rare and exciting opportunity to join a role looking for someone with part project management and part performance optimisation. You will be focusing on project managing, supporting business planning and joining the dots between the various teams to ensure projects remain on track. The second half to this role will be optimising performance which relates to both 1) delivering on the promises and services offered to clients and 2) optimising the return on investment (ROI) of the division.

Job Title: Business Planning Analyst

Salary: c.£54,000

Benefits: Bonus up to 15% annually, Holidays: 27, Pension: 4.5% matched

Location: Surrey/South West London

Travel: ~4 days per month, flexibility required to business need

The key responsibilities for this role are:

  • Developing and refining business planning templates by working with key stakeholders, maintaining the business planning calendar. Ensuring successful completion of all planning cycles
  • Supporting the development of Account plans for key accounts including pharma/hospitals/pharmacies/treatment centers (own the process, engage stakeholders, designing templates, consolidation of best practices, etc.)
  • Developing key account Profit & Loss assessments to assess the profitability and help develop initiatives to maximize profitability and account penetration
  • Developing resource plans and models using key activity-based cost drivers in line with business models
  • Reviewing the cost to sell and cost of delivery models – finding opportunities to streamline the process and improve efficiency
  • Identify and track key metrics related to specific service offerings to help with strategic planning and customer meetings, as necessary
  • Ad-hoc analysis of customer sensitivity models to changes in service level, pricing, value proposition, etc.

Required Experience:

  • Pharmaceutical / Healthcare / Life Sciences industry experience, ideally within a commercial analyst, cost accounting or finance type role
  • Educated to degree level (or equivalent) in a relevant science or business field
  • Experience in business planning, financial planning, Profit & Loss analysis within the pharma industry
  • Ability to work across various therapeutic areas and global markets
  • Resourceful with strong analytical skills, with the ability to draw conclusions that are data driven and rational
  • Skills: MS office (in particular PowerPoint and Excel); Using various financial reporting systems (such as Cognos BI, Hyperion, Oracle, etc.)
