Role: Channel Performance Manager
Location: Multiple sites – London, Manchester or Belfast
Salary: £55,000 to £65,000 plus 10% bonus, pension, healthcare, life assurance and lots more.
Office/Home working: 2-3 days from home/office set up per week

If you’re looking at the job title and wondering what one of these are, this role can go by multiple titles, dependent on the firm – including the likes of:

  • Trading Manager
  • Channel Manager
  • GTM Manager

What you’ll be doing

Principally these two things:

1 – Driving the performance of a specific sales channel. Such as retail, digital, direct sales, partner sales or indirect channel sales.

To do this, you’ll be looking at the current capabilities of the channel. Identifying where gaps might exist in the channel and its capabilities to support a product’s sales journey from lead to conversion. Building out the action plan to close that gap.

2 – Managing those changes and their implementation into the channel. Handling all the influencing needed to make these changes land successfully. This will include engaging with Sales and Finance Directors at both the planning and implementation stages, as well as channel owners throughout delivery. Then measuring the impact performance and results achieved.

You’ll be responsible for building your own roadmap for the channel you’re overseeing. Ensuring product, systems and processes are all in place, ready for new product launches, and deliver an optimised in life performance for each existing product in that channel.

You’ll be a significant P&L influencer with a lot of very senior level exposure, with your success measures being things like channel revenue, ARPU and quality deliverables of the channel to the customer.

Who you’ll be doing this for

This is a newly created team within a very large, complex business in the telecoms, media and technology sector.

The mandate is to drive a step-change in the company’s channel performance. Recognising there’s been a disconnect between product, marketing and sales in the past because of not having an independent observer like this in place.

Someone who’s able to look at the mechanics within each channel, be them systems, process or people based. Identifying where gaps exist in capabilities and delivering objective ideas for change which will improve performance results.

So this gives you a real opportunity to shine, as there’s a lot of low hanging fruit available and loads of scope for improvements and optimisation.

In addition, the teams you’ll be engaging with are fully behind embracing changes, and can see opportunity for improvement. They just need you to come in and help set that direction and oversee its delivery.

So if you’re looking for something with really meaty deliverables with a high profile employer brand, and something which has loads of headroom available because there’s so much scope to have a positive impact, you’ve just hit the jackpot!

About you

  • Channel optimisation experience established within a big, complex firm. Ideally with experience within the TMT space (consumer or business markets)
  • Analytical problem solver – able to use data to identify gaps and create strategies to close
  • Commercial skills – understands how a sales and marketing funnel works. Able to make the right priority calls when gaps have been identified and build strategies to close them
  • Really strong stakeholder management and influencing skills
  • Experience with P&L’s – having led projects to improve commercial performance and delivered channel change projects for large, complex firms which have successfully influence commercial results
