Data Analyst - CONTRACT

** THE market leader in the fitness industry **

Location:                            Central London

Salary:                                £25k - £35k pro rata’d

Term:                                    3 months

A unique opportunity to join this current market leader in the fitness industry, whom with established private funding are growing at an exponential rate. Growth has come through acquisition as well as organic growth of their customer base.

Within this innovative, start-up environment, they are growing their data capability through hiring data engineers, developers and this role, a Data Analyst. You will report directly into the Head of Analytics, who has an impressive background across customer and CRM analytics, having worked within the gaming and retail industries previously, and will work alongside another two Insight Analysts. Although this is initially a contract role, there is a chance for extension, or potentially even a permanent position here.

Because the data environment is still fairly early days (1st party only) there is a focus on getting the data warehouse to a useable state, so that other data sources can then be used to compliment and add context; they have plans to add 7 or 8 new data sources such as social media data, external customer data, digital data etc.

Daily activities will include:

  • Help to create a robust data testing framework between two sources
  • Use R and/or Python to manipulate large datasets and export into Excel for others to use
  • Perform detailed investigations to understand discrepancies between two data sources, using a combination of R/Python/Excel
  • Proactively suggest improvements or additions to existing testing framework to make them more efficient
  • Work within a team to consolidate investigation findings, highlighting patterns of discrepancies (bugs) within the data
  • Evaluate scale and impact of bugs in the data
  • Report back to project manager on key investigation outcomes and propose solutions based on impact

Technically they operate an R & Python environment and have plans to develop data science projects – so lots of learning opportunities are available over the next year or so.

Finally, the culture is very relaxed yet hard working with people truly buying into the ambitions of this fitness retailer. It’s innovative, young, dynamic, creative and flexible in its approach and comes with the luxury of being market leader, so can set the trends – as it were!

Experience and Skillset required

  • Educated to degree level in a numerate subject
  • Programming languages, preferably R or Python, SQL nice to have
  • The ability to analyse and interpret data
  • Problem-solving skills
  • A methodical and logical approach
