Role:  Digital Marketing Executive - Gaming
Location: London, when it’s safe to return to offices
Salary: £20,000 to £30,000 base
Benefits: Pension, healthcare, life assurance

What a year it’s been.

If you’re looking at this, chances are – simply based on career grade and salary level – you’re finding job searching really hard going. Competition at this level is fierce, and it’s not helped by the time of year too, right?

But you’re not going to let that beat you.

You’ve got a fire in your belly and a passion for digital marketing like no other.

In fact, because of your ‘can do’ attitude, you’re doing all you can to take initiative and make yourself as attractive a prospect to employers as possible.

Be that gaining relevant work experience in digital through non-traditional means, or really polishing up your skills so they’re ready to add value on day one to that employer who presents you with an offer.

You’ve been training your whole life for a day like this.

A day when you come across a job advert not written like others.

Which seems to have some semblance of personality and gets you don’t want a ‘run of the mill’ boring 9-5 in a corporate environment that’s stale and dull.

No, you want a ‘digital first’ firm. Somewhere your friends will be jealous of.

A brand that’s unique, but ‘good’ unique… and going to make you an attractive prospect to other employers in future too.

Not just because they’re a great brand, but because it’s the kind of place which will give you plenty of scope for development and exposure to lots of different aspects of digital.

So you’re probably looking for a position to start with email marketing and CRM, recognising being ‘data driven’ is an attractive trait to employers and relational marketing is a decent field to be in. After all, data is the lifeblood of any business these days and you’ve got a mind which just soaks up data, numbers and metrics.

Then you want to get to grips with campaign management, to really help brush up those project management skills. Pulling together the various assets, working with external agencies and ensuring what they’re delivering meets the brief and is delivered on time.

To ensure you’re not limited and have some variety, you might even want to get a bit more experience in something that’s got a data related edge to it. Maybe competitor analysis?

After all, someone needs to keep a check on those pesky competitors, right?

Maybe carrying out analysis on consumer perception and preference, as well as checking out their products and services too. It’s always good to see how your company compares.

Then translate these findings into something meaningful which is taken seriously and acted upon by senior leadership, right? Giving you that chance to shine and be recognised for your efforts.

Once you’ve nailed all this, you might decide you’ve got other itches to scratch and interests in the field you want to further develop.

So you might start getting involved in higher level meetings to understand the mechanics and challenges to those subject matter areas. See if you can’t add some value to thinking and really help flex those cerebral muscles to make you the best digital marketer ever….

Well the good news is, if you’ve read this far and find yourself thinking ‘how does this recruiter know me so well?’

I don’t – but it sounds like this role is ideal for you. So you’d better apply quick, it’s likely not going to be available for long…
