Director of EU Market Access - Orphan/Ultra-Orphan Treatments

Our client has retained our search consultancy services in order to find a market access expert for this newly created vacancy.

This expanding rare disease biotech, with a focus on creating novel orphan therapies, is seeking a passionate and experienced Market Access Director for Europe.

Within this new role, you will provide both strategic market access leadership while also providing hands-on support to European affiliates and expansion territories.

Key Responsibilities

  • You will work closely and collaboratively with the Senior Director of Global Market Access, helping develop and execute market access strategies for existing and pipeline assets.
  • You will work closely with each of the affiliates, particularly helping navigate and optimise across the complex health economies of Southern Europe.
  • As Director of EU Market Access you will share best practice and facilitate the efficient sharing of data, Real World Evidence and experiences across the organisation.
  • You will use your strong influencing skills and diplomacy, to ensure the development of a coherent MA strategy in collaboration with the Senior Director and leadership in the Global HQ.
  • You will provide hands-on Market Access support to each affiliate and review the work of external agencies being employed during the submission process.
  • You will provide support and be present where necessary for payer negotiations.
  • Be the voice of the affiliates when communicating Market Access and Pricing issues with Global.

Requirements

  • You will have prior experience within European market access
  • You will have experience in developing, executing and driving market access strategies for Rare/Orphan therapies.
  • You will have a deep understanding of market access across for Europe and preferably with a focus on Southern Europe at one time in your career.
  • You will speak fluent English and Southern Europe languages (ideally including one or more including Spanish, Portuguese, Italian and/or French).
  • You must be a self-starter who is able to work autonomously and part of a lean team.
  • You will be a great communicator, being able to motivate and drive colleagues, while also being able to communicate strategies efficiently and effectively.

Education

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Science (Biology, Chemistry, or Pharmacology) or Health Economics.
  • Preferably a specific health economics or professional market access related qualification 

Additional

  • You will be based in Europe.
  • Travel required 40-60% of the time in Europe. Occasional travel to the US and expansion territories
