Role: Global Account Director – Alcoholic drinks brands
Location: Central London
Salary: up to £60k base plus benefits
Term: 12 month fixed term contract

Couple of things to be candid about. You’ll likely not need to read further if:

  1. You’re not comfortable marketing an alcohol brand
  2. You’re not comfortable with taking on a 12 month maternity cover engagement
  3. You don’t want to be agency side working for a big media agency

Still here?

Good.

Let’s get to what’s on offer.

Lots of people like to blow off steam from time to time, I mean, there’s going to be at least a small percentage of people reading this whilst also messaging some friends and colleagues arranging where to meet up Friday/Saturday night to have some fun, right?

Plus, who hasn’t also seen a Bacardi or Malibu advert selling an exotic party lifestyle and thought “that will be nice”.

… And who can forget the iconic adverts from Guinness over the years?

Now, what if you were working for the agency responsible for some of these types of iconic ads? Doing this on behalf of a product and brand that’s very much ‘of the now’.

THE ROLE

You’ll hold a Global remit as Account Director within the Client Services team. Working with one of the World’s biggest drinks companies across 2 of their most iconic brands.

Overseeing planning, working in partnership with account strategists. Also oversight of market co-ordination and leading both a small direct team as well as giving direction to country teams. Ensuring each are delivering within the central brand and marketing guidelines you’ve helped create.

In addition, you will be handling day to day client engagement of both their local and global teams. Balancing the client’s requirements to achieve growth in brand equity whilst also driving sales through campaign activity. Handling the needs of both parties which occasionally conflict, coming up with appropriate actionable solutions which will keep both global and local client teams happy.

They’re both integrated accounts covering Digital and traditional media channels. In recent years the bias has moved more towards digital in some territories, however in some TV, OOH and Press still play a pivotal part of the media mix.

Although global, the brands have bigger market share within the EU territories, so this will similarly bias how the media budgets are split and your time too.

There’s going to be some travel as part of this too. With you meeting up with local teams as well as country-based client teams to coordinate campaign actions, provide guidance and support where necessary.

You’ll be leading a small local team of direct reports working into you, but with digital who handle a portfolio of projects as well as handle innovation testing for campaign development. There’s resource in this unit for you to pull on.

In addition is the account strategist who helps you with planning, and a Business Director who you’ll be reporting into and who can support with any escalation requirements (if you find you need it).

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Experience established agency side, working to an equivalent account leadership level which includes team leadership
  • You’ve worked on alcohol or FMCG accounts before ideally, handling media and creative campaigns across digital or integrated channels
  • UK or international account experience both welcome – just got to be able to demonstrate the ability to get your head around multi-market planning
  • Confident handling conflicting client requirements – e.g. brand build vs performance delivering campaigns. Able to influence and galvanise clients behind your ideas to remediate these conflicting needs
