Something we’ve got to be candid about from the start as to not waste your time – unless you’ve got creative leadership experience working with a luxury brand, or worked with higher end/premium make up or skincare brands, it’s probably not worth you reading beyond this point.

That’s simply because it’s a crucial need for this role. To appreciate and understand that market, and essentially be the company’s brand guardian for all creative assets. Acting as the final sign off for their use across all channels.

Still here? Good. Let’s get into the detail.

Stepping in as the Head of Creative for this premium skincare brand, you’re going to be overseeing what equates to an in-house studio team made up of senior and junior designers as well as a copywriter.

This will be a pretty hands-on role – as you will need to be involved with shoots, or content themes and ideas for influencers. This will be from ideas around creative direction with your team, through to their curation and finished production. Likely being onsite to ensure the right results are being achieved and fits with the wider brand, digital and campaign work. So it all joins up, and that the creative direction fits with the company’s premium positioning.

Traffic managing and curating all briefs which come in from all areas of the business. Typically requiring content, animation and/or photography.

Ensuring those briefs are sharpened up and priortitised with the team. Handling those tricky conversations with people across the business when things get busy. Ensuring they’re aware of the priorities and kept happy.

There’s a Global team you’ll be partnering with too who are based in the US – they’ll be pushing quite a lot of projects your way. These will need to be adapted for UK markets rather than design from scratch.

You will need to put your design and content creation skills to work too – especially when looking at channels which are unique to the UK market. As these, as well as any big campaign pushes around key trading months like Christmas tend need to be created from scratch. From initial ideation and concepts, through to finished product ready for production or use in campaigns.

If you really enjoy roles which have an execution bias, where you can use your creative skills whilst also leading and inspiring people, you could have a lot of fun with this one.

When can I start?

They’re ideally looking for someone who’s able to start in November/beginning of December in order to do a hand over.

KEY EXPERIENCE

  • Must have experience in creative leadership (graphic design, photography, video production, animation, product / packaging design, branding, etc.), working with luxury or premium brands – can be within skincare or beauty industries. However other luxury industries are of interest too.
  • Your experience could have been gained either agency or brand side. That bit isn’t so important.
  • Great leadership and management skills. Able to champion and protect your team when appropriate. Especially when dealing with really busy environments and handling lots of demand
  • You’ve worked across all relevant on and offline channels – including print, retail, ecommerce, digital content production, etc.
  • Very strong creative eye and attention to detail, especially when proofing work
  • You’ve led both video and photography production
  • You’ve been the person responsible for agency and supplier relationships – their instruction and outputs
