Role: Interim Web Editor – part-time or full-time
Location
: UK remote
Rate: £150 - £200 per day (Inside IR35)
Term: 6 months

How many adverts have you looked at today and winced because of the number of errors?

From poor grammar and spelling, to split infinitives and superfluous use of adjectives in the hope of injecting some energy into what is clearly a mundane opportunity working for an average organisation.

But you click ‘Apply Now’ hoping it’s just a cr*p recruiter who rushed the advert, rather than a cr*p job.

So what’s different here? (apart from this opener)

The role itself is part of an international content function for a pretty substantial Ed-Tech firm. They’ve moved one of their permanent members of staff across to support on a big project piece, and need interim support from someone who knows their English language and attention to detail around the written word to help them through the coming 6+ months whilst that project gets delivered to.

What this means is:

Requests and editorial projects arise from a shared inbox within the team. Often arising from Product, Marketing, Commercial, Legal, Finance or external partner requests for website content changes, updates or fixes to content.

It’s reasonably prescriptive in nature – a change, fix or review of content if needed. You drop in to check it, fix it or change it and put it right.

Sounds simple, right?

It kind of is – only, they’re a regulated business. As such the communications and content they put out has to align to regulation requirements. Plus the types of content you’ll be working on cuts across loads of different things, and they also work on behalf of lots of third party partners. Their digital estates are all branded to the partner’s tone of voice, so any editorial changes made need to align to this too.

This engagement will run at least until the end of October, potentially to the end of the year.

It’s to provide cover for someone who has moved internally to deliver upon a special project piece. Hence being inside IR35.

Key Experience Necessary

  • Degree calibre education, ideally in English Language
  • Have experience of working to process guidelines
  • Have a decent degree of editorial experience for web/digital estates
  • Previous experience with Sitecore CMS beneficial
  • Solid attention to detail
  • Great project management and time management skills

Must be able to live and work in the UK unrestricted.
