Investment Writer - Equities
Location – London office, twice a week max
Salary - £60-70k base plus benefits and bonus

If you’re an experienced investment writer, what’s really going to set this one apart for you versus the plethora of similar opportunities out there?

Company scale?

This one’s big enough to matter, not so overwhelming in scale you’d get lost or just feel like a cog in a machine.

Exposure to the right people and teams?

With this, you’ll get access to the Economists, Investment team, Client Affairs, Stewardship and Partners regularly, and in many instances every day with a standing agenda to update on the markets and any changes or things of importance which need writing about.

Perhaps it’s the market itself?

This one’s simple enough. There’s four key audiences – Institutions, Charities, High Net Worth and Intermediaries. In the main the company is an Equities house. So that’s what you’ll be writing about.

Maybe it’s the company’s credentials/bias?

This firm’s got a really strong footing in ESG and sustainable investing. So there’s a lot of content you’ll be writing about connected to this.

Variety?

There’s a lot of things for you to cover, and although what you’ll be doing does need someone who’s comfortable with technical writing. What you’ll be writing is going to vary across long-form copy, video scripts, blogs and social media, email marketing copy, marketing collateral, market reports and lots more.

Anything else?

You’re going to be working with the company’s editorial committee. Identifying what there’s demand for ensuring the content roadmap is aligned.

You’ll also have direct access to the subject matter experts in each field too. Interviewing them alongside carrying out your own research to bring together content pieces ready for sign off.

Progression

The team you’ll be joining is small, just 11 who make up the marketing unit, with two of you in the investment writing team. But with that comes the opportunity to shape your position and make it your own. There’s plenty of breadth to expand into without feeling too stretched, and this helps set up the opportunity for you to show off what you’re capable of too.

Interested?

Here’s what we need to see from you:

  • You’ve got to have experience in investment writing, ideally with at least some experience of doing so for equities – this is an experienced hire role after all
  • Able to adapt your writing style to suit different audiences
  • Competent with technical writing within an FS environment
  • Great attention to detail, especially with editing
