Role: Marketing Executive Location: Epsom, Surrey Salary: £28,000 to £35,000 (based on experience) Benefits: Discretionary bonus, 10% pension, 23 days annual leave, life assurance, healthcare, professional study support How many adverts have you looked at so far which all taking a big game about how ‘fantastic’ and ‘excellent’ the opportunity is, but when you’ve read through, given no grounding for those claims? Don’t worry, this one won’t. Being candid, this advert will likely be worth reading further if you’re able to say ‘yes’ to the following: You’ve got to have some experience of marketing in a regulated environment of some sort – like financial services, utilities, insurance, even telco. You want a role which will offer variety, utilising the full marketing mix. You don’t want to be pigeon holed into a single specialist area like CRM, DM, PR and comms You’re looking for a smaller business environment. Somewhere you’re able to be more than just a number and have a voice You’re interested in professional development, and an employer which will help you with undertaking things professional qualifications Now that’s out of the way, here’s more about what’s on offer. As you might have guessed, this isn’t a massive multi-national. This is a local firm with a lot of history and heritage about them, and will be joining a close nit marketing team of 8. The team work collaboratively across the company’s portfolio of consumer financial service products and propositions. Supporting product launches, in-life promotion, cross and up-sell as well as product changes and withdrawal. This means no two days will likely be the same. One day you may be updating literature and producing copy based on regulatory changes or product withdrawal. Another you may be managing website content and promotion. Or building CRM campaigns, coming up with creative advertisements, putting together a PR campaign or even doing a product launch. Really, it’s going to be that varied. There is one bigger project on the horizon you’ll be adding support to, and that’s a big website content programme. They’ve got multiple sites and around 400 products which require content updates and literature changes. You’re going to be working on things which are both direct to consumer and B2B, as they also promote their products through intermediary networks like IFA’s, mortgage and insurance brokers. Being a regulated business, you will be working cross-functionally with partners within the compliance team to ensure anything customer or promotional related satisfies regulatory requirements. However this isn’t going to be as challenging as you might think as they’re a smaller firm, so can be quite agile, as there’s not multiple layers of red-tape to cut through. Outside of the work itself, you’ll find the team you’re joining are a sociable bunch. With curry nights, sports and social club activities and even combined charity days. They also provide funding for professional development – so if you’ve had your eye on a course from the DMA or CIM (in fact, any relevant professional course to marketing), they will provide financial support to cover the costs. They just ask you stay with the business to apply what you’ve learnt for a period after course completion. So if you’re interested in joining a place where you’d be more than just a cog within a production line, why not give this a try? Key experience necessary Broad marketing background from a regulated industry Solid copywriting skills and a good eye for detail Good prioritisation skills, and the ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines effectively You’ve worked with external suppliers and agencies. Briefing, critiquing and overseeing their output Must be able to live and work in the UK unrestricted.
