We’ve come a long way in measuring marketing performance since the days of Mr Wanamaker. But the one channel which has proven a little tricky for businesses to get down to a science is TV and its influence in cross channel attribution.

Attribution, performance, results.

Three words which will feature prominently in this role if you take it on.

You’ll be principally responsible for handling the company’s advertising strategy for DRTV. It’s a pretty important channel for the business, one which drives a lot of customer prospects, and is only really rivalled by digital in terms of lead generation and acquisition.

You will be given an eight figure budget to play with too. But will need to ensure it’s well spent. Optimising the media strategy, responsible for targeting and planning, and campaigns are delivering to growth metrics. All whilst providing value for money. So you’ve got to be really hot with the numbers and data to understand how campaigns are performing.

Naturally, creative and shooting the ads will be a part of your role. But to be candid, the bias will lean more towards the analysis and optimisation side.

Working with an analyst who will do the hands-on data work. But with you drawing strategies and conclusions from the insight and either tweaking or changing strategies to help improve results. Or utilising it to forward plan the next campaign.

There will be a cross channel part to this too – looking at how DRTV is impacting cross channel metrics, and working with team mates to plan ahead for any spikes, etc.

Your report line will be to the Head of Marketing, and there’s a wider marketing team who handle different aspects of the marketing mix as well as lifecycle marketing.

There’s a couple of agencies working with you on this programme. Helping across creative and production, as well as media planning and buying, as well as effectiveness.

In just 6 years this company’s gone from start-up to market lead within its particular niche. Their business is continuing to scale at pace, which is why they’re scaling their marketing investment so much looking ahead to 2022.

It’s this scaling in spend which is driving their continued hiring. As they need more specialist support to own strategic and tactical channels like this. To give them a proper focus and ensure results are delivered to.

It’s still a family owned and run business, so don’t expect anything corporate. But you will find you have a really supportive and inspirational manager in the Head of Marketing. Someone who really understands the mechanics of direct response marketing and will be a great champion for your work.

Key experience necessary

  • Direct response marketing specialism, with a good knowledge of DRTV, notably the ability to really dig into the performance side and optimisation of the channel
  • Broader appreciation and oversight of acquisition marketing to include digital direct response channels. So you’re able to give guidance and direction to your team
  • Great head for numbers, able to dig into performance results. Optimising a programme
  • Able to demonstrate you’ve worked with similar budgets before and love the opportunity to join a business which doesn’t have a lot of red tape. But does have a lot of potential growth ahead of it.

Must be able to live and work in the UK unrestricted.
