Principal Data Scientist – People Analytics
Location – Middlesex, Hybrid working environment – twice a week in office.
Salary - £65,000 to £80,000
Benefits – One of the richest and deepest benefits packages you’re ever going to see which is unique to them as a business. Including 15% bonus, good pension, healthcare, life assurance.

You’re part of a business who’s got a deep, rich pool of data about their people. Diversity, pay-gap, performance, reward, sickness and attendance, attraction, engagement, retention, etc.

To date that data has been mined, modelled, analysed and visualised in various ways which you could consider ‘traditional’ for a business. But the aspiration is for this to change. To bring in more advanced thinking and techniques to improve the value of this data to the business.

To introduce elements of robotic automation through things like text analytics and NLP which could automate labour intensive processes, reducing time, freeing up resource for other projects and delivering better outcomes for the business and its people.

You’ll be taking on a management position, leading a team of 4. These will be both experienced hires and graduate data scientists. With your role being a mix of hands-on, problem solving, big picture thinking around the art of the possible.

In addition, as the principal you will be responsible for owning the relationship with business peers from outside the team who raise requests. Shaping and challenging those requests where necessary, managing expectations on the team’s ability to deliver, as well as presenting the findings and solutions the team create. Removing the complexity, telling the important stories identified within the data.

Alongside the exploratory stuff using Python will be the BAU stuff. There will be BAU aspects to this role which will require some dashboarding work, using Tableau and SQL.

But the exciting stuff will all centre around the modernisation of the company’s internal data with the application of advanced analytics techniques and data science methodologies to improve efficiencies through automation and provide new thinking in how the huge resource of data they hold could be used to help solve business problems.

About the company

The real cherry on top is the company you’ll be joining here. Their staff retention rate is incredible, at an average of 14+ years service.

They’re an incredibly prolific employer brand with an amazingly rich heritage. Topped off by a ‘one of a kind’ office campus and one of the deepest and rewarding benefits, training, career development plans you’re ever going to see.

You’ll be part of a team of over 200 data professionals which cover all aspects of this company. Including pricing, revenue, commercial, customer, business, HR and operations, finance, etc. etc. There’s lots of scope for progression and development, and this role will have a lot of headroom to make a mark and deliver some impressive business results.
