Product Manager - Generics, Commercial Medicines – Pharmaceutical Industry

Surrey/South West London OR Staffordshire

Overview:

Working with a global pharmaceutical business to successfully manage their rapidly growing Generics portfolio. You will work within the Commercial Medicines division across the entire generics products category and be responsible for the UK market and contribute to international expansion. This Product Manager position is a brand new, varied, exciting and critical role responsible for the strategy and day to day leadership of the portfolio. The role will join at an exciting time with an ever-increasing portfolio of new generic products including some upcoming, game-changing launches.

Salary: c.£50’000 - £60’000

Location: Surrey/South West London or Staffordshire

This is a rare and exciting opportunity that has arisen due to the expansion of the existing portfolio into international markets, the growth of the portfolio and significant imminent launches coupled with internal promotions. Within this role you will be able to utilise your skills of negotiation, strategic planning, sales and marketing, project management and budgeting, forecasting and analysis.

The key responsibilities for this role are:

Product Portfolio Management

  • Daily management of commercial activities in the UK including shaping the strategy, planning, executing directly and via cross-functional leadership (without direct authority)
  • Working collaboratively and positively with colleagues and external customers and partners
  • Working closely with distributor partners to deliver marketing support
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues in support, customer service and other functions that have a direct impact on the delivery of stated objectives for the generic portfolio
  • Work in positively in conjunction with Supply Chain and through the S&OP process to ensure robust demand plan forecasts are available to maintain continuity of supply and minimize out of stocks
  • Track pricing and discounts to ensure the desired commercial objectives are maintained
  • Respond to tenders (ITTs) for products in the portfolio as required
  • Develop market intelligence to evaluate new generic product development opportunities on a global basis
  • Work closely with the internal cross functional team to ensure appropriate plans are in place for the immediate commercial launch of new products once the Marketing Authorisation has been granted
  • Management of sales and marketing expenditure as approved in the budget
  • Research and anticipate external factors affecting the products in the portfolio by remaining up to date on all external developments within the areas such as legislation, the customer base and wider payor environment
  • Contribute to the forthcoming expansion into international markets
  • International pricing strategy management – ensuring an accurate international pricing file is maintained and international pricing strategy is maximising the global generics opportunity

Required Experience:

  • Pharmaceutical industry experience
  • Preferably Generics and/or Biosimilars experience (if not, we would consider experience gained within a highly competitive market segment)
  • Product/Commercial Management experience
  • Sales and marketing experience – preferably for multiple products
  • Proven ability to drive positive financial results for one or more products by working collaboratively with cross-functional colleagues
  • Preferably tendering experience including pricing negotiations
