A greenfield opportunity for an ambitious Data Analyst to join a small team with huge growth potential. And if you love sports … then you will want to read on….!

Team & Role

Working under highly credible and experienced marketing leader, you will be joining a brand new data role. He is one of the biggest selling points of this role, due to his impressive career to date, where he’s led marketing and commercial teams for the likes of O2, Carphone Warehouse and other firms within the sports industry – bit of sports nut! He currently manages a small team who cover all things commercial and marketing, but is also hiring another 3 heads into this area across digital, design and marketing, so an exciting time of growth to join.

As part of this growth plan to become more commercially and data driven, you will play a pivotal role in delivering commercially valuable reports and insights to senior level stakeholders. You will need to be comfortable with building relationships with stakeholders, working to understand their needs and defining reports and business insights that will help them make better commercial decisions. You will work with a variety of data from customer, to sales, transactional, member, digital (programmatic, ad words, click through rates, page impressions) to identify insights which can lead to improved decision making – a valuable chance to diversify your exposure to different data sets early on in your career.

Technically we are looking for people who are intermediate to advanced users of SQL, and ideally with some experience of Tableau for both data manipulation and reporting purposes. Alternatively you may have used another reporting and visualisation tool. You will work with the data to extract value and information to help inform decisions using Tableau for data visualisation and building engaging dashboards.

There is not current requirement to present actionable insights to stakeholders, but there is definitely potential for this to become part of the role as the role of reporting itself within the business evolves. Their ultimate aim is to get to a place where predictive analytics and modelling is being used to drive customer understanding, improved business performance and better marketing ROI, so any contextual knowledge here too would help.

Ultimately, if you have the energy, vision, ambition and confidence to join this high performing business at a time of growth…where even at this more junior level you can really own something and effectively help shape your own role – then this is for you! Something the manager himself said he would have jumped at during his earlier career.

Culture

Although you will be the only data expert you will have very supportive family around you, including your manager but also the board – who are very bought into the strategy of using data to drive decision making more. You also have a network of marketing agencies and an external data expert to lean on in the early days, someone you will work closely with as the BI platforms and processes are set up.

Experienced required:

  • Educated to degree level in a numerate subject; Chemistry, Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, Engineering, Psychology, Analytics
  • Skilled in using SQL to write code to an intermediate level for data extraction and manipulation is ESSENTIAL
  • Experience with Tableau viewed very favourably, or a strong willingness to learn or experience with another reporting and visualisation tool considered
  • Ability to develop reports and commercially impactful business information to senior leaders
  • Excellent communication skills in order to build relationships with stakeholders
  • Ability to work well in a remote environment, keen to identify new opportunities for projects, self-starter
  • Ability to working independently, pro-actively and manage time well
  • Strong attention to detail
