Role: Senior Data Scientist
Location: Office in West London / Middlesex – hybrid working, twice a week in office
Remuneration: £60,000 - £67,000 base + 15% bonus, + travel concessions post 1 year service worth tens of thousands as well as further benefits

Couple of headlines about the role before getting into the meat of things:
1. It’s a commercially aligned data science position. Applying ML and advanced analytics techniques to solve both commercial business and customer related challenges (purchase, upsell, value growth, demand, pricing etc.).
2. Python and SQL coding skills are standard. But there’s also some dashboarding work so the outputs are fit for business (i.e. non-technical audience) consumption. This is with Tableau.
3. It’s a business facing position, engaging with product, pricing, commercial, operations, marketing, finance teams. Gathering requirements, understanding their challenges. Translating into data briefs which you’ll be delivering to.

That’s just to give you a heads-up on the basic outliers.

What makes this opportunity more unique:

One of the most common reasons for looking to change jobs is due to lack of opportunities and challenge.

Opportunities to learn new things. To grow your career upwards. To not feel stagnant, like you’re churning the same handle on a yearly basis, with repetitive operational cycles and very similar business challenges to overcome.

This company’s recognised that, especially within their Data Science community, and made growth through learning and clear upward opportunities a key feature of choosing a career with them.

That’s why their average tenure is incredibly high, at over 14 years!

But it’s not just this. They also happen to have a reward package which is really hard for other businesses to replicate, and difficult for people to walk away from.

Plus they have a really aspirant working environment, coupled with iconic employer brand to boot.

Then there’s the rather large team (around 200) who you’ll find are really supportive and collaborative. With a rotational programme which gives people the chance to change jobs every 12-18 months if they’d want to. If that’s to learn something new, or try their hand at a series of different business challenges to keep things fresh and interesting.

About the Role

This is an advanced analytics position, applying a mix of technical data, storytelling insight and commercial skills together.

You will own the relationships within a project area of the business. Managing the needs of those stakeholders, getting under the skin of their issues and challenges. Helping to unlock potential with creative, data led solutions.

It’s set up as an Agile data science team who plug into project teams to provide data expertise in creative and inventive ways to support the business in tackling and unblock issues. Creating commercial value and opportunity. Principally through the application of ML and advanced statistical modelling solutions.

The main function will be part of the commercial and customer workstream, who also plug into the marketing and product workstreams too. So projects will have a bit of variety to them.

Outside of this, what you can expect in terms of documented responsibilities aligns similar to most others you’ve seen online. With all the same buzzwords and terms. So I won’t bore you with the basics.

So if you’re looking for something that bit more special and interesting, apply to this and find out more.
