Senior Data Scientist

CLIENT

A much-loved UK department store retailer, with sites across the UK. Over the last 10 years this retailer has worked hard to ensure data forms part of board level conversations and decisions, meaning data really does drive a lot of their strategies. During this time a team of over 60 analytical experts has been built, comprising of data managers, scientists, campaign evaluation experts and deep dive statistical customer insight analysts.      

This role sits within in the Data Science team, which is part of the wider Group Insight Function. This role requires a strong statistical analyst who has advanced skills within modelling and analytics, experience in using machine learning techniques and who has the ability to deliver a wide variety of projects for stakeholders across the company around CRM; establishing the right offers, channels and customers to target.  

 

The team currently consists of two Modelling Analysts and one other Senior Modelling Analyst, but none have skills in machine learning techniques or using R or Python, so they would love for someone to join who can help upskill the team.

   

Fundamentally, your background should be in predictive analytics, machine learning and modelling, including experience of building segmentation, linear regression models, data manipulation and data preparation. You will also sit with internal stakeholder and work with them to develop solutions, working collaboratively to shape the techniques and approaches required.    

                            

 

POSITION -      Senior Data Scientist

 

LOCATION -     Central London

 

SALARY -          £55k - £75k (depending on experience) plus excellent benefits & strong bonus

 

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED/RESPONSIBILITES

 

  • Educated to at least degree level in a numerate subject; Computer Science, Machine Learning, Data Science, Mathematics & Statistics, Engineering, Chemistry, Physics etc.
  • A background in using machine learning techniques
  • Strong use of SQL for data extraction and manipulation, plus programming skills using EITHER R or Python are essential
  • Proven experience using advanced analytical and modelling techniques such as Bayesian modelling, timeseries analysis, lifetimevalue (LTV) modelling, attribution modelling, random forest etc.
  • The ability to bring analytical findings to life, presenting findings to stakeholders
  • Self-starter and strong communication skills – engaging and innovative approach
