CONGRATULATIONS! You’ve just located the needle in the proverbial job haystack!

As out of the 1,000+ paid social jobs currently advertised on job boards like Indeed for London, this one’s showing on your screen right now.

So how’s it going to stand out from the crowd and make you want to click the apply button?

Let’s start with 10 things which may give you immediate context on whether the role will suit you, and if it’s the kind of company you’d like to be part of:

  1. Your Facebook and Instagram advertising spend will be circa £1m for the coming year, and expectations are it will get larger the following year
  2. You’ll be looking to scale smaller channels including TikTok, Snapchat, Youtube and Pintrest Ads
  3. Principal target audiences are aged 20-30yrs, but the product is also purchased by parents around key gifting periods in the campaign calendar. So campaign targeting and creative strategies will need to vary dependent on audience, time of year, etc.
  4. Campaigns will be international. Principal audiences are UK and USA. But there’s a growing footprint in some EU countries too, and you’ll be looking at how to scale campaigns into these territories, and ensuring they deliver the appropriate ROAS
  5. The business is still relatively small in headcount, but have offices established in multiple countries
  6. It’s a relaxed environment, one with no cliques and isn’t a blame culture. If something goes wrong, they look for the learnings which can be taken from it to apply to future activities
  7. They recognise people for their hard work and efforts and reward accordingly
  8. There’s great progression opportunities and have no set hierarchy. Stepping into this role they’re already considering ‘what’s next’ for you, as you’ll see from the details below
  9. The business has been featured in the Sunday Times Fast Track – ‘ones to watch’ list twice
  10. Although you’re only going to the office twice a week, it’s nice to know when you do go, it’s a destination. Somewhere really swanky, modern and nice.

The brand and its products cover multiple market verticals; including travel, home and beauty, sports and fitness.

The campaigns tend to rotate around a seasonal cycle, and this naturally differs across each territory too. So if it’s getting ready for summer, you’re more likely to be biasing campaign spend towards travel and sports vs home, for example.

Your role will be principally hands-on with each of platform, managing the consoles and ensuring campaigns are performing, delivering the right returns.

There’s going to be a lot of focus to getting into the detail. Understanding what is and isn’t performing, making changes to campaigns in-flight, as well as post mortem of finished campaigns to understand where learnings can be gained to help improve the strategy for future ones.

You’ll be getting involved in the strategy side of things too. But this is also seen as the development path for you coming into this role. As it’s anticipated you’ve probably been involved in strategy based conversations before, but not likely owned it yourself.

Well, taking this role on, they will be investing in this side of your experience. Training and nurturing your knowledge so you will eventually be able to control it completely end to end.

As you can likely tell from this advert, this isn’t your run-of-the-mill kind of paid social role. It’s one with a future, and one which hopefully has ticked a lot of boxes for you wanting to explore it further.

If that’s the case, you know what to do now…
