I’m working with a major Travel client looking to hire an SEO Manager, they are taking the majority of SEO in-house from their agency and are looking for someone to manage the transition and be their SEO Lead. The Travel company is well positioned for growth in 2023, they have two brands, one that focused on VIP and bespoke executive holidays (think those £40k holidays to the Dubai you have heard about) and the other is focused on delivering travellers to the worlds best theme parks (and yes you do get discounts on travel). Their website is growing MOM with new hotel and flight partners joining all the time, so they need someone to manage the SEO strategy from the top down, managing the strategy for three websites.

The role will touch on all aspects of SEO (SEO offering, including on-site techniques, link building, content marketing (strategy), online PR (strategy), technical SEO – crawl errors, data mark up, xml sitemaps etc.) as well look to build a team once everything is brought in-house. The company is taking SEO very seriously, Travel has exploded in 2023 and they see SEO as a key tool to help them achieve a dominant position in the Travel market. The role has an established road map for progression over the next 18 months when they are going to invest in your skills and build you up to be a industry recognised SEO Manager.

The role is based in Romford, Essex (20min from Stratford, London station). They are taking a modern approach to hybrid working, they are open to multiple options when it comes to being in the office, they are open to a candidate being in the office 5 days a week right up to once a week.

Role responsibilities:

  • Setting the SEO strategy and drive its execution through a small direct team and a broader cross-functional team that support this channel.
  • Managing all aspects of SEO offering, including on-site techniques, link building, content marketing (strategy), online PR (strategy), technical SEO – crawl errors, data mark up, xml sitemaps etc.
  • Leading complex deep dives to understand performance gaps and opportunities to unlock growth including website audits, crawl analysis, keyword research, etc.
  • Carrying out regular SEO reviews, focusing on both on-page and off-page SEO – deliver technical documentation for on-site recommendations.
  • Working with the key stakeholders within Marketing team to devise an effective digital strategy which works across a range of platforms.
  • Defining and roll-out a measurement framework for SEO performance and measurement.
  • Using Google Analytics and other analytical programs to deliver key campaign performance reports to stakeholders monthly.
  • Working with PPC team to ensure effective keyword targeting and landing page optimisation.
  • Monitoring keyword positioning and backlink profiles and act to protect against algorithmic penalties.


The SEO Manager role requires the following experience: 

  • Substantial experience within the SEO industry
  • Experience within a Travel or an agency that has Travel clients would be preferable
  • Strong working knowledge of the latest SEO techniques and algorithm updates
  • Good knowledge of Google Tools, Google Analytics ect
  • Experience in creating effective outreach strategies
  • The ability to present and seize business opportunities based on data intelligence
  • Strong HTML and CSS skills (not essential)
  • The ability to be decisive and focused on delivering business outcomes
  • Proven experience that enables you to fully appreciate all tactics available to them in delivering and exceeding the requirements of the role

Salary: £50k - £60k
