Role:                     Technical and Creative Designer – marketing agency
Location:             Central London offices, likely 2 days a week
Salary:                  Up to £50,000 basic plus benefits

It’s an unfillable role because it’s looking for a mix of skills and experience which simply doesn’t exist. Or if it does, it’s very rare, and if a Unicorn arises which fits the bill, the person can confidently charge a premium for their experience blend.

Here’s an opportunity to make yourself into a Unicorn! As described by the hiring manager, “if you find someone who has this blend of skills and experience, just sign them up and give them an employment contract. As it’s incredibly rare, and we will bend over backwards to get it!”

Where this role becomes unique is the blend between creative and technical skills.

With the technical side, you will be building design templates for use in marketing campaigns, everything is modular, built with automation in mind, working with HTML, Javascript, CSS & Bootstrap.

The second element is the design side. Working with a channel specialist which could be in email, digital, video, print, social, OOH, etc. understanding their design needs and making them a reality.

You’re going to be exposed to a variety of clients, including Ford, VW, Nissan, Suzuki, Lilly, Samsung, Mercedes and loads more.

Because the design library is all automated and designs modular. You’ll need to quality check builds to ensure templates work effectively in execution.

You’ll be joining a high volume production based environment, often creating assets used in really high profile advertising and promotional campaigns.

Onboarding and Training

Initially you will be inducted via a three month rapid training programme, getting you up to speed with the agency’s ways of working, as well as training you on the design side whilst putting your existing technical skills to good use.

Getting you working with one of the channel specialists and really polishing your skills designing in the one channel.

Once you’re confident in that, you will broaden out your channel exposure by aligning with another channel specialist, and this will help make you more rounded overall designer. Able to turn to and deliver against a variety of projects, all with modular design and automation at their core.

In the end, you will become that Unicorn talent. The perfect blend of technical and creative design, with lots of channel experience and have a wealth of incredible high profile work for major brands under your belt. About the business

They’re an incredible well respected agency with a large, diverse roster of prestigious clients. The agency has a global presence, with offices all round the world. Currently the UK design team you’ll be a part of is around 10 people, but will be doubling in size by the end of this year and has potential to expand further in 2023 because of a number of potential new clients coming onboard.

KEY EXPERIENCE

  • Technical design skills with experience in HTML, as well as knowledge of CSS, Javascript, Bootstrap and others
  • If you’ve not got commercial experience which demonstrates creative design skills, you’re able to demonstrate this with outside projects, interests and experiences you’ve put yourself forward for which scratch that itch and demonstrate a creative flair
  • Comfortable working in a fast paced environment which is typical of a big agency environment
  • Knowledge of modular design principals and automation
  • You have some knowledge/experience of channels such as digital, print, OOH, press, social, banners, retail, and developing templates/automated designs for these
