Role: Paid Media Manager
Location: London office, but can be remote with limited travel requirements to come to office.
Salary: £40,000 to £50,000 plus benefits

Let’s start with a couple of key selling points about why you might consider this opportunity against the wealth of others out there:

  • It’s a cash rich start-up who, despite still having funding rounds ahead of it to support their growth ambitions, is already revenue generating and P&L positive
  • Being a start-up, there’s a distinct lack of red tape. It’s also a really progressive environment with lots of autonomy and freedom to your role
  • With the hires they’re now making, they’re looking at going to the next level. This will mean this role will become a line management one in the near future.
  • The business is looking at growth through acquisition too, so there’s going to be a lot of growth potential ahead as they amalgamate those brands and offerings into their fold
  • Finally, although they have a London office. There’s no plans to go back just yet, and they’ve said it’s there if you need it. But otherwise they’re happy with remote. You’re likely to only need to go in as and when meetings are necessary in person. Or, if you prefer working from an office site.

As for the role itself, you’ll be reporting into the Head of Digital, and taking ownership of their PPC and paid media channels. As things stand, what you’ll be inheriting is something of a blank slate. As they’ve been really successful in driving growth through SEO to date.

They’ve got SA360 in place, but aren’t precious about needing to stick with that tool. So if you’ve got ideas for something better, they’ll listen.

Where the opportunity sits with this one is in their growth plans. They’re forging new commercial partnerships which give rise to new prospect customers and audiences, and paid search is the fastest way to gain visibility and traction for these.

We’re looking at £40-50k per month spend to get things off the ground. With expectations this will likely grow over time as the ROI is proven.

You’re going to have the be the kind of person who’s all over the numbers for this one. Digging into performance data of campaigns. Making quick changes when you see opportunity or wastage.

You’ll be dealing with an international set up, and will work very closely with the commercial team on the different regions. Setting up the strategy, and building the paid search programme based on opportunity.

This is a hands-on role. There isn’t agency support. But you will have freelancers who help with translations.

In addition, you’ll be responsible for creating their testing strategies, such as A/B and MVT. Never wanting to be complacent and always pushing for best results.

Expectations are, with this appointment, you’ll start as an individual contributor. But as the company grows, so will your role and so move into line management in the next year or two.

Overall, this is one of those opportunities with a ton of potential, in a business which has a lot of ambition, clear direction and strategy, and is willing to give you the chance to grow in role too as they grow.

So if you’ve got the drive and ambition to match, and are interested in securing a role in a firm with impressive credentials and is offering you the opportunity to move into a management role in the not to distant future. Why not put your hat in the ring for this one?
