Blue Pelican is looking for hungry and motivated recruiters to come and be a part of something special. As we are looking to expand our areas of specialism and deepen our service offering to clients with new recruiters to support their talent acquisition and people needs.

Where you’re at in your journey in recruitment isn’t important. We’ve got the capacity to support ambition as well as established talent looking for a kick onto the next step in the career ladder. So we’re able to appoint this position at either Associate Consultant, Consultant or Senior Consultant career grades. The salary bandings and OTE’s reflect this in the above.

The Opportunity

You will be given ownership of a discipline area within the Pharma industry, recruiting up and down the career spectrum. This will be within existing clients and any new clients brought onboard too.

This would be a 360-degree remit, responsible for the entire recruitment process from start to finish. Including identifying and sourcing top talent for open positions, but also building relationships with client prospects and bringing in new business too.

In addition to delivering on new business, you would also need to build and maintain strong relationships with existing clients to ensure repeat business. This involves developing a deep understanding of your clients' needs, and staying up-to-date on industry trends and best practices in recruitment.

We have no client ownership, so there’s a serious amount of opportunity to grow value from existing clients as well as build relationships and open new doors with client prospects too.

Our Pharma and Life Sciences business

The Pharmaceutical industry is probably one of the best recognised as being insulated against macro economic events, simply because of being a needs driven industry.

It should come as no surprise to hear it’s also one of our most commercially successful, having exceeded its commercial targets and objectives three quarters in a row.

Established recruitment relationships existing within regulatory affairs, medical affairs, quality and pharmacovigilance. But we recognise there’s a number of complimentary areas available for a recruiter to plug into and deepen relationships with existing clients.

The client base is made up of a mix of big pharma, scale-ups, bio-tech and service providers.

Currently, we service principally UK affiliates and head offices, so there’s significant opportunity to expand our footprint into international territories, even within our existing areas of specialism too. Simply by engaging the overseas subsidiaries and offices of existing clients.

What we offer:

  • A commission plan which pays up to 25% of monthly invoicing
  • No desk fee
  • Holiday allowance which starts at 26.5 days rising to 31.5 days with service (plus bank holidays of course)
  • 37hr week with flexible start and finish times with core hours of 10-4pm
  • Training and development including an individual budget allocated for you each year

Incentives and rewards

  • Short-term – includes top quality lunches at exclusive restaurants, axe throwing, kart racing, West End shows, spa day, etc.
  • Additional holiday allowance bonuses for hitting target
  • Place on the Plane – e.g. do 120% of your billing target over 6 months and you’re going on a multi-day overseas trip – all expenses paid!

Quality-of-life and culture:

  • Brand new offices right in the centre of Tunbridge Wells
  • A sense of responsibility and purpose, doing good for our community. Whether it’s something you’re personally motivated by, or even if it’s aligned to our charity partners
  • No big egos. Ask around and you’re likely to hear one of the big USP’s of working for us are the people. They’re knowledgeable, kind and supportive. They’re exactly the kind of people you’ll likely want to spend time with chatting over drinks after work. They’re good people!

What we’re looking for

  • Experienced 360 recruiter, able to demonstrate the ability to open the doors with new business. Negotiating fees, exclusivity arrangements and successfully influencing in a B2B sales environment
  • Past experience of hiring within the Pharma/Life Sciences industry would be a real advantage
  • Good relationship management skills with a commercial focus. You know how to spot the opportunity for win/win and how to finesse things to get positive outcomes
  • You’re organised and know how to structure searches to deliver results for clients quickly and effectively
  • Motivated to achieve results, tenacious and driven.
