When was the last time you walked in somewhere and went “Wow this place is nice”. I mean the kind of ‘wow’ you get if you stepped into the Burj Al Arab’s reception for the first time…

It’s because of the sense of luxury beyond reason. No corners cut. So there’s nothing in the world which can challenge it on its quality.

That’s what this brand set out to achieve in the luxury branded paint market. Having been featured in an impressive array of high-end lifestyle media outlets and having established brand partnerships with similar, they’re looking for a BDM who’s able to build upon this by expanding the company’s trade partnerships across various industry channels. Maintaining their exclusive high-end brand appeal, whilst also opening up new routes to market which increases their share of market opportunity.

The trade routes they’re considering reflect their brand positioning. This will include opportunities such as:

  • High-end residential and commercial developments
  • Interior designers and corporate interior fitters
  • Architects
  • Luxury hotel chains
  • High-end retail spaces and respective property owners

You will be responsible for defining and executing both a direct and indirect business development strategy, designed to grow and nurture opportunities for new trade customer accounts, which will include cold outreach strategies as well as nurture programmes for warm account growth from existing customers.

Your audience will be mid to large corporates whose main interest centres on the quality of the product, rather than a ‘price first’ mentality. They will typically have multiple sites which require maintaining, and the client will recognise ‘buy cheap, pay twice’. Hence their interest lies in ensuring the quality of the product is top-notch.

Despite being a relative start-up, this company has a well-established customer base already which they’re looking to build from. So can already prove value and their product being a cut above. They perceive their product as being the ‘next generation’ of leading brand in this space and has a platform to build from.

What they need from you is the ability to successfully get their message across, cut through with the relevant audiences, secure those meetings with decision makers and who’s able to close in the room those high volume recuring deals which helps their business grow.

The environment itself really similar to what you might find in a traditional sales environment. The role reports into the Commercial Director and will be focused on landing those meetings/deals. This role isn’t going to be cold-calling but you will be researching new clients and figuring out the sales strategy, both in and outbound, then putting it into action. Managing and maintaining the opportunity pipeline and ensuring conversions are consistent and maintain the right volumes and margins.

Plus providing reporting to senior leadership on what’s happening at ground level. How performance is against target, what’s working from what’s not and what actions you’re taking to help remediate and capitalise on opportunities.
