Role: Marketing Executive
Location: Camberley, Surrey – office based 3 days a week
Salary: £30,000 to £35,000 (based on experience) plus benefits

We’re looking for an adventurous marketer. Someone who’s comfortable walking on paths not yet trodden. Who wants to create their own path and have opportunity to test, refine and scale new marketing channels to drive customer acquisition.

We’re talking about a full mix direct response marketing programme. Covering digital and offline channels, including paid social, TV advertising, direct mail, out of home, press, etc. etc.

If you want a role which will give you plenty of scope for learning and development, and you’re keen to get hands dirty, you’re probably going to really enjoy this.

The company you’ll be joining is looking to carve their own niche in the relatively new industry of pre-paid funeral plans. It’s a subscription business model which holds parallels to life assurance policies. Only instead of a cash sum, the policy provides the services in line with the wishes of the policy holder.

To kick things off they’re utilising a multi-million pound marketing budget across on and offline media. The programme will be heavily focused to performance based direct response marketing efforts and you will be supporting with the build, execution and management of them.

You’ll be reporting to the Head of Marketing, supporting on the day-to-day objectives. This will extend to both on and offline campaigns, supporting with pulling together collateral. Briefing and overseeing agency work. Looking into campaigns in-flight and making tweaks and changes to help improve performance.

There’s going to be a ton of learning opportunity open to you, and the people you’ll be joining are absolutely top-class marketers. So you’re going to be in good hands.

About the company

They’re an established organisation with multiple UK offices, their product and service offerings are UK only.

They recently expanded their interests, diversifying their revenue stream and launched into the pre-paid funeral plan market.

This type of proposition has been growing in popularity in recent years, as individuals have been forward planning arrangements so their families don’t have to in times of grief. Plus there’s the added benefit of affordability a pre-payment plan represents too.

About the Team

The team you’ll be joining is newly formed. With you reporting to the Head of Marketing, supporting on the creation and execution of campaigns. But a lot needs building and testing, as the programmes will be new.

Funding has been provided by the established firm and its backers to support growth. Including a really healthy marketing budget which has the potential to be increased, provided performance and value can be proven.

They already have assets in place, including websites and digital paid media, as well as an active TV commercial. Plus they’re testing on Facebook.

But there’s lots to do over the coming years to level up from their current MVP state. Improving the sophistication of creative, journey communication, opening and testing new channels, including other direct response marketing channels.

In addition, over this year they’re looking to add additional headcount to the marketing team, building out their digital performance team, and adding analytics support too. So you’re going to be in a good place, with a growing business.

Key Experience Necessary

  • Some commercial experience within a marketing environment, pulling together campaigns, assets, getting things together and executing.
  • A real interest in wanting to go into marketing, and growing your career down that path
  • Exposure to graphic design tools would be beneficial, such as Adobe CS
  • If you’ve had any experience working in a regulated industry like insurance, financial services, utilities, telecoms, etc. would be an advantage. But not strictly necessary
  • Bright, ambitious, gregarious nature. Really willing to and keen to learn
  • Able to showcase and evidence clear thought around the career direction you want to take, and why this kind of role would align with that.
