Role: Strategy Director
Location: Principally home based, but do have regular London based meet ups. Principally through various We Work sites.
Salary: Base up to £65k plus benefits

How do you turn a product everyone knows and understands, and spin up a narrative and framework for a brand to get behind so they can engage with the right target audiences, position their brand as the one of preference which in turn drives consumer sales?

Applying an understanding behind why people engage with some content and creative and not with others.

Looking into social economic, psychographic and demographic profiling, consumer trends and future scoping where those interests may likely evolve to.

Getting to know the audience to highlight whether it’s the brand, category hype, sustainability, cultural connection or other reasons people are likely to get behind your product vs another in market.

THE ROLE

You’re the strategy creator and account planner. Creating stories from insight, spun up into narratives around how to engage an audience. Identifying the green field opportunity for a brand, or journey of change it needs to go on in order to achieve its objectives.

Your role begin with the client brand download and ends with the presenting back of the brand and comms strategy.

Whether that’s moving the needle of consideration within a specific audience type by evolving their content strategy, social influencer strategy, and media strategy in order to have the brand appear and resonate in the appropriate channels on the right topics.

Or if it’s a journey of change centred around overcoming brand challenges, turning around declining market share, launching a new product, etc.

There’s going to be a lot of variety to the clients you’ll be working with. Project can take up to 2-3 months typically, and you’ll be working on multiple client projects at once. Frequently working across multiple sectors including FMCG, automotive and beauty and fashion.

There is no pitch work required with this, their product isn’t sold that way, and it’s not an agency you’re joining. This is a SaaS firm which has an AI solution at its core. Able to define content, media and influencer strategies once it has an idea of the audience all powered by a AI neural network.

THE BUSINESS

You will be joining is the strategy and planning team for a growing AdTech business who have completed several rounds of funding and are into their next stage of evolution. There’s around 30+ people in the firm already and this is a new appointment to support a growing client roster.

Their platform is an AI driven recommendations engine which is able to create a content marketing strategy for brands to successfully connect with target audiences. Whether it be a media campaign, influencer strategy, digital content programme or brand journey.

They work both with the end brand owners, on projects such as how to evolve brand positioning to fit with cultural objectives. Helping show them the journey they need to take, and what narrative, content and creative is required to successfully appeal to the desired audience type.

But also with brand agencies, feeding creative strategy and direction for those agencies to apply to client work and achieve the client’s desired goals.

EXPERIENCE NEEDED

  • Demonstrable experience within a marketing, brand or communications planning / strategy position
  • Self-sufficient, able to pull what you need from data to be able to shape a narrative and present this back in an engaging manner
  • Good understanding of brand and tackling brand challenges
  • In tune with various cultural shifts and trends and able to translate and apply this into insights for brands
  • Interested in stuff – e.g. if you’re doing a project marketing gravy, you can see the connection to consumer interest in the product. E.g. family time and get togethers
  • Able to devise marketing and media frameworks, connecting the dots to brand and business objectives
