Digital Marketing Manager

Location: Welwyn Garden City, hybrid working with three days per week in the office
Salary: Circa £60,000 to £65,000 plus benefits

You’ll take ownership of the digital experience for a growing, multi-site and multi-brand organisation, helping turn business requirements into effective, joined-up customer journeys.

This is broader than a traditional digital marketing role. Alongside website performance, SEO and UX responsibilities, you’ll work with teams across the business to understand what they are trying to achieve through new digital capabilities, services and processes.

That might include a new booking journey, customer feature or event functionality. Your role will be to ask the right questions, understand how the process needs to work and determine the best digital solution. Sometimes that will sit within the website. In other cases, it may work better through the CRM or require integration between multiple systems to provide customers with a seamless experience and one accurate source of information.

You won’t build the solution yourself. You’ll translate the requirement into a clear brief for developers, oversee delivery and make sure the finished product works properly within the wider digital estate.

What you’ll be doing

  • Owning the website and wider digital development roadmap
  • Gathering business requirements and translating them into digital solutions
  • Mapping processes and customer journeys before development begins
  • Assessing whether functionality should sit within the website, CRM or an integrated solution
  • Writing clear briefs, requirements and user stories for development teams
  • Managing external developers and SEO specialist agency
  • Overseeing testing, releases and quality assurance
  • Ensuring new features integrate seamlessly with the existing website and systems
  • Improving website UX, conversion and customer journeys
  • Managing technical, local and on-page SEO
  • Overseeing paid search activity and performance
  • Resolving operational website issues, including content, imagery and functionality

Experience you’ll bring

You’ll have experience working within a business which needs to connect digital experience with physical to bring things to life for customers, where customer journeys and digital processes need to operate consistently across a complex environment.

You should combine digital marketing knowledge with a business analyst mindset. You’ll be comfortable questioning requirements, mapping how a process should work and translating business needs into something developers can deliver.

You’ll also bring experience of:

  • Owning a CMS-led website and digital roadmap
  • Briefing and managing development teams or agencies
  • Website, CRM or third-party system integrations
  • UX, CRO and customer journey optimisation
  • SEO, including technical and local search
  • Testing, issue resolution and release management
  • Analytics and digital performance reporting

Knowledge of managing a CMS would be particularly useful, particularly a headerless one.

This role will suit someone who can move comfortably between business requirements, customer experience and technical delivery, taking ownership from initial idea through to a fully functioning digital solution.
