Job Title:        Head of Product – Beauty Industry
Salary:
            £60,000 to £65,000
Location:        Central London
Term:              12 month fixed term contract

What’s going to be hot in 2020 for the make up and beauty industry? Will it be all about the cheekbones and contouring, smoky eyes or maybe creative nails? Perhaps it will still be all about ensuring your eyebrow game is on fleek.

As Head of Product for this mid-market beauty brand, you will be reporting to the company owners, being the driving force for their product strategy. Including new launches as well as in-life management for existing lines, growing sales and brand awareness through multiple marketing channels.

This is a maternity cover contract engagement for a period of up to 12 months, leading a team of 2 product development and product management professionals. Also engaging with the creative unit, overseeing creative concepts and product packaging, promotion and messaging. Ensuring what’s created is on point and will deliver the desired outcomes.

You will be where the buck stops. Supporting your team, but making the ultimate decisions on product strategy and roadmap. Setting objectives and working with both the company owner and wider team to ensure these are successfully aligned with company strategy and retail partner plans.

Oversight of market insight. Looking at competitor activity in connection to the company’s product portfolio. Spotting commercial opportunities which can be included into the product development strategy roadmap.

You will be point liaison for wider teams (marketing, technical, commercial, operations teams), leading meetings, ensuring projects are properly briefed, tracked and delivered on time and to target.

There’s a lot of 3rd party suppliers to engage with too. With you handling supplier negotiations, and ensuring they meet product requirements. Handling any challenges which may arise, negating late delivery and any potential cost impacts.

EXPERIENCE NEEDED

  • Prior management experience within a product development role in the beauty industry
  • Experience in defining a product roadmap and product strategy as part of a portfolio
  • Senior stakeholder management experience, working with either Directors (in big businesses) or owner/founders (if smaller)
  • Able to oversight work with other units, hold teams accountable and ensure successful delivery of projects
  • Commercially aware and savvy on beauty industry trends
