International Marketing Planning Manager – Travel
Location: Middlesex – Hybrid, typically twice a week in office
Salary: £50,000 to £55,000 base plus an incredible benefits plan which includes discounted holidays, 15% bonus and tons more.

For marketing to be effective, it requires a well-designed, considered and thought through marketing plan.

That’s the bit you’re going to be responsible for with this global travel brand.

It’s sounds like a big remit, and to be fair it could be. But you’re not doing this alone, and you will be part of a team who overall work together to pull together the company’s global marketing efforts which align brand, commercial and customer goals.

The marketing plan includes the annual plans. Looking at the year ahead and what the business is looking to achieve across those three different strands. But at country, region, category and product levels. Taking account of the competitive situation and opportunities which may exist within each area to bring together a coherent and connected marketing plan which will weave together brand and tactical campaigns across all channels in order to deliver the overall business objectives.

At highest level, you may become involved in 3 year horizon scanning strategy work.

At the most tactical, it will be quarterly planning.

With those quarterly plans, you will be working with the different business units to brief out the objectives and strategies. Ensuring they’re fully onboard with what’s needed, timings and expected outcomes.

Whilst the marketing plans are in-flight, you will be working with the various marketing functions, understanding how the plans are performing, looking at where tweaks and changes to strategies might be necessary in order to optimise revenue opportunities. But understanding how the impacts of any change suggestions may impact on the bottom line results further down the line, aiding the business to achieve annual objectives.

There is no hands-on operational delivery with this role. It’s all centred on the planning and strategy side of marketing. That said, a background coming from operational marketing environments could be beneficial. To have an appreciation of capacity planning and the complexity behind scheduling and organising marketing campaigns across various channels.

Experience Needed

  • A marketing pedigree with experience in marketing planning
  • Solid academic pedigree with a good numerical aptitude. There’s going to be a lot of data to consume and make sense of as part of the day-to-day
  • Have experience working in a large, complex organisation – like a big retailer, telco, bank, utility, travel company. Something with lots of levers, drivers and moving parts and people.
  • A real passion for marketing, but also a great understanding on the mechanics of a commercial business and how money is made in a large commercial organisation
  • Great collaboration skills and high degree of emotional intelligence
  • Tenacious, but also really patient with people and know how to get people onside
