About the Role

How would you establish a research programme in order to advise a marketing team, as well as their respective counterparts in media, creative, PR and social so they’re able to bring the right ideas and strategies together in order to land campaigns successfully?

What do you need to measure and how’s best to implement those measurements for a series of continuous research studies, such as brand trackers?

The research and insight programme you’ll be handling will be full funnel. With continuous trackers keeping tabs on consumer sentiment and brand measures. Looking at the impact of each campaign, and how they’re moving the needle towards the kind of brand measures the company wants to be achieving.

As well as looking at ad-hoc studies such as tactical performance of campaigns and things like, the understanding what’s working and what’s not in a campaign. E.g. creative, copy, media, etc. Providing these insights to the marketing team to take appropriate actions.

The marketing team delivers campaigns on a national basis. Typically multi-channel and big budget too.

You’ll be supported by an external agency, briefing certain projects for them to execute, as well as accessing their online resource platform to pull down data and analyse it.

A part of your role will be to make marketing insights more holistic. Helping the marketing team get closer to the customer, understand what’s working, why and how. What might need changing, should something not be hitting the right marks, or not having the desired impacts around things like brand trackers, etc.

There is more of an emphasis in this role towards oversight of continuous studies, so having a deeper understanding of these will be beneficial within a marketing environment.

Team wise, the research and insight functions is made up of around 9 people. This covers a broad cross section of research and insight needs of the business. The specific team who deal with customer and marketing insight is three in total (including this role).

Requirements:

  • Good knowledge of managing research and insight projects for a marketing function
  • Knowledge of setting up and managing tracking/continuous studies such as brand trackers
  • Have worked with YouGov data, and have a good understanding of how to extract, analyse and draw conclusions from data
  • Can carry out ad-hoc studies centred around campaign performance
  • Keen eye for detail and the ability to work with econometrics data as part of a wider research and insight programme
  • Confident when delivering insights and recommendations to marketing functions. Able to pull together and deliver presentations to senior stakeholders
  • Background can be from either agency or end client environments
