SEO & GEO/AI Search Manager

Base salary up to £55,000 + 15% bonus + benefits
Location: Hertfordshire office | Hybrid working (3 days per week in office)

This is not a traditional SEO role. And that’s the point.

We’re recruiting an SEO & GEO/AI Search Manager for a big brand hospitality and leisure brand. Looking for someone who sits right at the intersection of technical SEO, content strategy and the emerging world of AI-powered search. If you’re the kind of person who’s started questioning where SEO is heading, this role is designed for that curiosity.

Why this role will appeal

You’ll have the freedom to experiment, test, and help define what “good” looks like in a world where rankings are no longer the whole story. This company is beginning their journey into properly investing in a strategy for Generative Engine Optimisation, not treating it as a bolt-on.

Recognising the world of search marketing is evolving and fast. With this new landscape being key to how consumers will not only find out information about products and services, but also utilise such tools to search out prices, find the best deals and arrange bookings too.

With this role, you’ll be at the centre of helping devise a strategy to respond to that changing consumer behaviour and ensuring the business is well represented and returning in the various LLM’s and AI platforms.

This is a senior individual contributor role. No line management. Plenty of influence. Working closely with content, product, engineering and analytics teams, shaping how the brand appears across traditional search and AI-driven platforms.

What you’ll be doing day to day

  • Owning and evolving the SEO strategy across technical, on-page and off-page fundamentals
  • Ensuring site health, crawlability and performance are genuinely fit for purpose
  • Partnering with content teams to create structured, authoritative content that performs in AI-generated results
  • Building and executing a GEO strategy across platforms like ChatGPT, Gemini, Grok, Perplexity – and any others
  • Designing experiments to test AI visibility, citations and answer adoption
  • Developing reporting that makes sense of a rapidly changing search landscape

Who this is likely to suit

You’ll probably have a decent amount of commercial experience in SEO under your belt already and be confident in the fundamentals. But more importantly, you’ll be curious. Maybe even slightly impatient with how static some SEO roles can feel.

You’re likely someone who:

  • Enjoys digging into how things actually work under the surface
  • Is comfortable translating technical insight into practical action
  • Likes experimentation and learning from results, even when outcomes are uncertain
  • Can explain complex ideas clearly to non-specialists without overcomplicating
  • You’re naturally going to know the usual suspect tools like SEM Rush, SEO monitor or similar.

Having experience experimenting with AI Search and GEO Search is a big plus, but genuine interest and hands-on experimentation matter more than having all the answers.

The bigger picture

This role gives you a seat at the table as search evolves. You’ll help shape how a major consumer brand shows up in both traditional and AI-first discovery environments, with the backing and budget to do it properly.

If SEO feels like it’s at an inflection point in your career, this is a chance to be on the right side of that change.
